International Trade

Powder River supports fair trade agreements that recognize unique circumstances facing ranchers and livestock producers and protect American food consumers from poor-quality products from abroad. Free trade agreements negotiated by both President Clinton and President George W. Bush, however, have contributed to increased U.S. trade deficits, greater reliance on imported foods and a loss of local sovereignty. Powder River opposes "fast track" trade negotiation authority that eliminates public participation in the consideration of these agreements.
