The cost of installing solar power has dropped 70 percent in the last 10 years, so now is a great time to learn more about powering your home or business with solar. Powder River Basin Resource Council is hosting a Spring Solar Celebration on Wednesday, April 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Gruner Brothers Brewing in Casper.
In addition to providing solar energy information for the public, this event is the kick-off for the Wyoming Solar Energy Association (WYSE), the state’s first solar trade organization.
“There has been tremendous growth in the number of solar installations throughout Wyoming in the last few years. WYSE has come together to ensure that our industry has a united voice. Community engagement and sharing information about solar opportunities are some of our objectives as an organization. We are pleased to partner with Powder River on this event to help promote solar energy in our state,” said Leo Pueblitz, Wyoming solar professional and WYSE organizer.
Solar installers and solar owners will be on hand to visit with home or business owners who have questions regarding solar power, and there will be a variety of resources available for people to take with them. Light refreshments will be served, and Gruner Brothers will have their craft beer available for sale. Live music will be provided by the Yokels & Friends. Everyone is welcome to this free, family-friendly event.
“This event gives people the opportunity to support solar energy and local food at the same time. It’s going to be a lot of fun. As a solar owner, I am looking forward to celebrating solar energy with a glass of Wyoming-brewed beer,” said Gillian Malone, a Powder River member and solar owner.
The Spring Solar Celebration is part of Powder River’s RENEWyoming campaign to assist people around the state who are interested in going solar. As installation costs have dropped, Wyomingites have taken full advantage of this opportunity to generate their own power. RENEWyoming tells these stories through video, print, and social media, as well as providing a variety of resources on solar power in Wyoming.
